Description |
English: Gustave Courbet enjoyed enormous commercial success with his landscapes. He painted around 300 views of his native Franche-Comté, including some 20 examples of this secluded spot. Courbet's technique is distinctive both for his use of the palette knife and for the underlayer of black paint over which he applied his color. |
