English: Photo taken in 1979. The French mission in French Guiana, working in the Wayana village of Antecume Pata. It took eight days for the soldiers and Amerindians to build a water tower 12 metres tall holding a thousand-litre tank, which had to be hauled up manually. The planks, cut by hand with axes, were made out of the wood of the wacapou tree (Vouacapoua americana), which is very heavy, very solid and nearly impervious to rot.
