Description |
English: HMS 'Repulse' and a 'Medea'-class destroyer The top image is a port-broadside view of the battlecruiser 'Repulse' (1916) as she was in late 1917. The lower image seems to be one the the four 'Medea'-class destroyers. They were the only three-funnelled destroyers that had this profile. 'Melampus' (1914), 'Medea' (1915) and 'Melpomene' (1915) served in the Harwich Force during the First World War, survived it, and were broken up in 1921. The 'Medusa' (1915) was badly damaged in collision with the destroyer 'Laverock' (1913) in the North Sea on 25 March 1916 and abandoned. She sank in rough weather during the night. |
