| Description | 'C' Class ('Ca' Group) Standard War Emergency Destroyer HMS Cavalier, 1,710 tons, launched, completed and commissioned 1944, decommissined 1972, the last WWII destroyer in the Royal Navy. At Chatham Historic Dockyard, 3 March 2019. She served in the Home Fleet escorting carrier strikes on the Norway coast and on Arctic Convoys in 1944-45 and in 1945 in the East Indies Fleet where she took part in the Battle of Surabaya, followed by a period in the Pacific Fleet before paying off in 1946. Pictured is the maintenance plate on the 40mm Bofors Mk.VII AA gun. |
