TREASURE CASE 2017 T1075. Two silver coins of Elizabeth I (AD 1558-1603) found in close proximity to one another.

1). Silver halfgroat of Elizabeth I dating from AD 1567-1570. Coronet initial mark, mint of the Tower of London. Obverse: Crowned bust left, coronet initial mark before legend ELIZABETH D G ANG FR ET HI REGINA. Reverse: Long cross fourchee over Royal shield. Coronet initial mark before legend POSVI DEV' ADIVTOREM MEV'. Condition: Worn/fine
Dimensions: 18.2mm diameter, 0.7mm thick, 1.2 grams.

2). Silver groat of Elizabeth I dating from AD 1560-1561. Cross-crosslet initial mark, mint of the the Tower of London. Obverse: Crowned bust left, cross-crosslet initial mark before legend, ELIZABETH D G AN FR ET HI REGINA. Reverse: Long cross fourchee over Royal shield. Worn initial mark before legend POSVI DEV' ADIVTOREM MEV'. Condition: Worn/fine
Dimensions: 23.5mm diameter, 0.7mm thick, 2.1 grams.
