English: Ha'amoed - De Vuurzuil, was the name of a biweekly paper for and by the Jewish community of The Hague, Leiden, Delft and Alphen. Its head editor was Isaac Maarsen (born Amsterdam 1892), the last Chief Rabbi of the city of The Hague. He died in concentration-camp Sobibór on 23 July 1943.
The date of this edition of the paper is 10 May, 1940, which is the day when The Hague was being attacked by Nazi-German bomber airplanes and paratroopers where dropped in its surroundings, starting the Battle for The Hague. |
