Description
English: Lt. John Johnson assigned to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light 46 performs preflight checks at Naval Station Mayport before departing to the guided missile cruiser USS Normandy. The ship and several Navy vessels are underway to provide humanitarian assistance/disaster response in the aftermath of Haiti's devastating earthquake. USS Bataan, USS Fort McHenry and USS Carter Hall deployed Jan. 14. Providing military support capabilities to civil authorities to help stabilize and improve the situation in the wake of natural and man-made disasters is a core Navy mission. ..
