Description

Considering that this building is the lecture hall, the name Museoljeon (無說殿), or Hall of No Words, does not make sense at all.

But the name of the building is really meant to provoke some thoughts. Despite all the lectures and sermons given in the hall, the true essence of religious belief cannot be completely conveyed in a human language, hence the name, Hall of No Words.

Although this building was first opened in 670, making it one of the oldest in the complex, the current architecture of the building is only a few centuries old, and the building's current incarnation dates back only to the 1973 restoration. By contrast, the temple as a whole was dedicated in 751.

A Japanese tour group is checking out Museoljeon. Due to the proximity of southeastern Korea to Japan, Japanese tour groups have been coming to Gyeongju well before other nationalities.
