This Lead we offer in competition withPure White Lead for the best class ofwork—indoor and outdoor. Decorators have noticed how sharpand clear tints show up on this Lead. Ittakes the full amount of thinners, worksand covers equal to any Lead withwhich it competes. The Canada Paint Company,Limited.

18 CANADIAN HARDWARE AND METAL NEW ALLOYS OF NICKEL ANDALUMINUM. THE difficulty in attempting to producean alloy of nickel and aluminumarises from the great differencebetween the melting points of the twometals—1,450 and 600 deg., respectively. If the experiment is made it is found thatthe resulting alloy contains scarcely 2 percent, of aluminum. Now, a manufacturer in Berlin has intro-duced an alloy under the name of nickel-aluminum. This is really an alloy ofnickel, aluminum and copper, consistingfor the most part, however, of aluminum,as is shown by its specific gravity—2.86. The method of production depends onthe fact that the melting point of copperis about a mean between the melting pointsof the other two metals ; the aluminumfirst unites with the copper, thus preparing itto take up the nickel. The process depends largely for its suc-cess on a special furnace designed by themanufacturer who has introduced the alloy, and also on the addition of certain fluxes. The complete expla
