There are many thingswhich begin to augur a change with re-gard to the ancient superstition whichveils itself under the venerable name ofreligion, and the suspicion with whichits ministers are regarded is no smallproof of it. The public indignation hasbeen strongly marked against the Arch-bishop and some of the priests, who aresupposed to have been the counsellors ofthe King in some of the last mad actsof his reign. The archiepiscopal palacewas roughly handled during the threememorable days of July, being ransackedand completely disfurnished.
