Note about the photo edit

In the 1960's, during the period of the Cold War, there was a national concern that the United States was falling behind in the sciences and particularly nuclear science. Glenn Seaborg, head of the United States Atomic Energy Commission, established a program to train high school teachers in nuclear science, and provide them equipment that they could use in the classroom to help train the next generation of scientists. Darrel Watson, a teacher at Grosse Pointe University School, received this training and taught a course in nuclear science during the 1964 summer session, directed by Richard E. Trimm, at his school. Harry Garland and Marna Lynch were two of the students in this course.[1]
