| Description | The Hazard Block, occupying the foot of Main Street adjacent to the Central Wharf, as seen some time between 1872 and '74. (The date is ascertained by the presence of signs advertising the flour milling film of J. B. Griffin & Co., which vacated its offices in the building in the latter year, and insurance agent Charles W. Wolfe, who moved his office into the building in the former year.) The building was demolished in 1882 to make way for the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western railroad depot, which itself was demolished in 1917 after being supplanted by a larger station. Today the site is the vacant lot located underneath the elevated Buffalo Skyway, directly across Main Street from the KeyBank Center. |
