Summary edit

Description
English: 1-2m tall shrub with pubescent and prickly stems. Lower leaves are ovate to cordate or 3–5-lobed and 3–8 cm long; upper leaves on flowering branches are greatly reduced. Flowers are ± sessile, solitary or forming a terminal raceme. There are 8-10 epicalyx segments 10–12 mm long. Calyx lobes are 12–20 mm long with a gland on each midrib. Corolla is 3–5 cm long and yellow with a red basal spot. Occurs in low swampy coastal areas, sometimes appearing semi-aquatic.
