| Description |
A couple of returning hikers pass along information on how to find the narrow slot canyon inlet. To get to Painted Canyon, take 66th Avenue (Box Canyon Road) east from Mecca and veer left onto Painted Canyon Road (gravel) and take it to the end (about five miles). Meander up the canyon keeping a lookout for a large, 10' long arrow made of rocks laying on the sandy canyon floor. The arrow is your pointer into the slot canyon. There are four easy-to-negotiate ladders that help you scale the more challenging sections. SSA_0106 |
