English: This non-rayleigh corrected true-color image of the Earth was captured on December 14, 2022, at 02:30 UTC, by the Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) instrument flying aboard JMA's newly operational Himawari 9 geostationary satellite. After 2,715 days or 7 1/2 years of being operational which was July 8, 2015, the Himawari 8 was placed in standby orbit at 05:00 UTC on December 13, and the Himawari 9 satellite took over its place. Himawari 9 is expected to be operational until at least 2029. |
