Deutsch: Südwestansicht der röm.-kath. Pfarrkirche hl. Georg in der niederösterreichischen Marktgemeinde Himberg.
Eine um 1130 errichtete Kirche, die ursprünglich Teil einer im 16. Jahrhundert zerstörten Burganlage war. Um 1230 wurde südseitig eine Kapelle angebaut und um 1400 erweitert, wobei dabei wohl der Anbau des südlichen Seitenschiffes gemeint ist. Ungefähr Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts erfolgte die Errichtung des frühgotischen Chores und in der 1. Hälfte des 15. Jahrhunderts der Ausbau des markant vorgestellten Westturmes. Nachdem die Kirche bei der Zweiten Wiener Türkenbelagerung beschädigt wurde, erfolgte im Zuge der Instandsetzung eine Erhöhung und Einwölbung des Langhauses. Die Sakristei ist im barocken Stil und wurde in der Mitte das 18. Jahrhunderts nordseitig angebaut. Im Zuge des II. Weltkrieges wurde die Kirche schwer beschädigt und 1951/52 wieder aufgebaut. |
