ntry.The stock of this mine has never been placed onthe market. The owners are satisfied with safe re-turns, and with conservative mining for regulardividends. The mine is developed in an orderly andsystematic way, and it promises for many years tocome to be one of the best mining properties in thecountry. Mr. Bean was married in 1863 to MissHelen C. MacDonough, of Philadelphia, and has oneson just coming to manhood. He is a member of the California Commandery of Knights Templar, and isalso a member of several prominent clubs andAssociations. He has a large social nature, givesliberally when his sympathies are enlisted, is a triedand trusted friend, high-spirited and firm in hisviews of public policy and duty. He has no tastefor politics, votes quietly, but never conceals hisopinions. He reads extensively, _has a taste forart and refined amusements, and has the capacityto enjoy in a rational way the fortune which he hasattained in the prime of his years.
