Description
English: Photo taken 2021 of exhibits in Hjemmefrontmuseet Rakkestad, a community-based museum in Rakkestad, Norway. The museum showcases around 3500 artifacts related to Nazi Germany's occupation of Norway and the Norwegian resistance movement during World War II from 1940 to 1945, and the corresponding historical era:
  • "The Refugee Room"
    • "War Time Wall Decorations" by the illustrator, commercial artist, and model builder Kjell Dyrhaug (deceased in 1981). The frieze was painted in 1943 for the dining room in the refugee camp at Kjesäter Manor in Sweden, where Dyrhaug himself was one of the refugees from German-occupied Norway. The wall paintings consist of around 20 scenes depicting his experiences of illegal work, raids, crossing the border, and time in Sweden.
    • American parachute from an airdrop with supplies for the Norwegian resistance movement during World War II
The Home Front Museum in Rakkestad: "American parachute. There were two types of parachutes used in the drops. The one you see here is American and has broad cords. These could carry heavier loads. The parachutes used by the British had narrow, round cords. There could also be many different colors on the parachutes that arrived."
    • Bicycle with a homemade wooden crate with a secret compartment, used for transportation during the war (courier to Sweden), likely by the Milorg group "Karl" in Hærland.
    • Overview of casualties from the Østfold region during the invasion in 1940
    • Display mannequin dressed as a typical Norwegian "border crosser" or resistance fighter wearing period-appropriate leisure or outdoor attire from the 1940s, with a flat cap, doublebreasted jacket, breeches, knitted stockings, and sturdy ankle boots in leather, equipped with a map, backpack, and a British Stengun submachine gun.
etc.

Hjemmefrontmuseet i Rakkestad: Amerikansk fallskjerm. Disse kunne ta tyngre last.

Norway

The Norwegian Copyright in Literary, Scientific and Artistic Works Act, in section 31 says that works of art and photographic works may be depicted when they are permanently mounted or located in or near a public place or a publicly accessible passage through some place. However, this does not apply when the work is clearly the main subject and the reproduction is exploited commercially. The same section says buildings may be freely depicted.

Since Commons requires that all images be free for commercial use, buildings are the only copyrighted works in Norway for which the FOP exception applies for Commons.
