English: Holt Fen - drying out Having been flooded for most of the autumn the water is now being removed, creating fantastic habitat for birds. The dark blur in the sky is actually several thousand Golden Plovers wheeling around, large numbers of Lapwing and Snipe were also present. The fields are flooded in rotation to reduce soil pests that can affect the root vegetables grown. |
