Summary edit

Description
English: This gentleman, with the shiniest top hat ever photographed, is the Hon. Claude Anson of Ballysaggartmore, Lismore, Co. Waterford.

Claude Anson was a brother of the Earl of Lichfield, and in 1901 he married Lady Clodagh de la Poer Beresford, who was a sister of the Marquis of Waterford.

Amazingly, under this respectable overcoat, beat the heart of a Western rancher! Seuss. found this snippet in the Boston Evening Transcript (page 3, col. 6) from Tuesday, 1 January 1901:
"Claude Anson, who will, after the new year, marry Lady Clodagh Beresford, sister of the Marquis of Waterford, has for some years been ranching in Texas. After the marriage the young couple will go to Texas to make their home. Mr. Anson is a younger brother of the Earl of Lichfield, and is now thirty-six years old"

So, besides the remarkable ranching information, we now know he would have been around 45 years of age when this photo was taken...
