  • Significance: The Park covers Agency Hill, one of the highest points in the Arkansas Valley. On November 6, 1909, the city of Muskogee purchased the original 40 acres and the Union Agency Building on it from the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. It has since grown through other acquisitions to 122 acres. In 1910, with the passage of the first park bond issue, Charles Butterfield, Landscape Architect, was hired as Park Superintendent, where he served until 1912...
