By looking at the square concrete thing in the water or the tiny concrete dam in the foreground you can see how low the water is over the years. Whenever I'm at the dam I take a picture from this position.

Easy to tell how low the water elevation is by looking at this. I'm pretty sure it's a pedestal for the derrick that was to build the Arizona intake towers.
