Photograph of a Hopi mother and daughter from a wealthy family at Mishongnovi (Mashongnavi), Arizona, ca.1898. The Hopi maiden on the left wears a traditional Hopi dress with a long-sleeved printed shirt, several necklaces, and earrings. Her hair is parted down the middle and pulled into flat buns on each side of her head. The matron, or mother, wears a blanket. Her hair is parted in the middle but worn in twisted braids. An adobe wall is behind them.
