| Description |
English: Horn Hill Tunnel Horn Hill tunnel was opened on 29th June 1832 in great style with a long procession and about nine thousand spectators lining the road from Beaminster. There was a 21 gun salute from right above the tunnel and later that evening a fair was held on the top of Horn Hill. The cost of construction was paid for by Giles Russell who lived in Beaminster.
More recently many of the beech trees have been felled and undergrowth cleared for safety reasons. There used to be great clumps of foxgloves growing amongst the trees. |
