| Description |
English: Hotel St George The Hotel St George is now part of the Swallow Hotels group and occupies a prominent site at the south end of Ripon Road, facing the Royal Hall and exhibition facilities. It began life in the mid 19th century and as the town prospered, so the hotel grew in size and magnificence, extending 'round the corner' to face the Royal Baths across Crescent Gardens. Anyone staying here in 1955 could have enjoyed a week's board from 12 guineas [£12.60]. |
