Description Lot 9439-6: Sawdust Heats American Homes. So, there will be no waste of plentitude of wood in the U.S. Northwest, sawdust, left when lumber is cut, is machine-pressed into “logs” and is used as inexpensive but efficient means of heating homes. This Seattle, Washington, house-wife is filling the hopper of the household sawdust burner. A full bin of sawdust will burn about 12 hours, make plenty of heat and leave little ash.
