Summary edit
DescriptionHousing diversity (Homesdale Road) - geograph.org.uk - 1105251.jpg |
English: Housing diversity (Homesdale Road) A series of photos showing the diversity of housing in one gridsquare in outer suburbia. For others in series see https://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=1905481. Any further information, such as building dates and what was on the sites before building, would be appreciated.
Homesdale Road, along with its immediate neighbour Beaumont Road and its continuation Fairfield Road are shown on a 1920 map as having been laid out by then, but with very limited development at that stage. Subsequent development, particularly of this stretch of Homesdale Road appears to have been patchy, with this bungalow probably being immediately post second world war, the house next door (which is named, not numbered, suggesting that it might have filled a housing gap) having a more recent appearance, and the pair beyond being even more recent (but with logical numbering - did they replace previous buildings on the same plots?). |
