No. 169IN ECSTASY BY PROF. FRANZ VON LENBACH r Prof. Franz von Lenbacli German: 1836—1904169—IN ECSTASY Height, 45 inches; width, 33% inches Standing figure of a young woman, demi-nue, depictedin ecstatic emotion. She is observed at somewhat morethan half-length, her hips wound with folds of trans-parent draperies in delicate tints of rose, green andyellow, with white. The upper figure, nude, is turnedslightly to the right, and she has raised both armsabove her head, the hands not meeting but the fingersextended and bent in a tense will to grasp, as withhead thrown back and eyes raised in rapturous long-ing she looks upward between her hands, her lips lightlyparted. Abundant reddish hair enwinds her head andfalls at will down her back. The mobile flesh revealsmany modulations of tone, seen in a soft light per-mitting the play of delicate color influences.
