Summary edit

Description
English: Built in 1913, this Tudor Revival-style building was designed by H. Osgood Holland and built to house Buffalo Central High School, formerly located on Niagara Square in Downtown Buffalo. The building features a buff brick exterior, stone trim, four-over-four and six-over-six double-hung windows, some with transoms, buttresses, a low-slope roof surrounded by a parapet, a stone base, gable parapets on the ends of the four wings of the H-shaped building and above the entrance bays to the building, a one-story rear wing, a front entrance with gothic arched windows and stone tracery on the second floor above, with a clock above the central bay, three wooden doors with transoms at the entrances, and metal globe lampposts to either side of the entrance. The building was renovated in 2007 under the direction of HHL Architects, adding a new gymnasium, locker rooms, new cafeteria, new auditorium and administrative offices, as well as shop and science laboratory spaces in the rear courtyard of the H-shaped building, with light wells between the addition and the original building. The building presently serves as Hutchison Central Technical High School, which provides a vocational and STEM-focused curriculum to students. The building is a contributing structure in the West Village Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
