Text Appearing Before Image: baseof the claws. In general form the skull resembles those of Vampy-ressa and Vampyrops, but the dentition is widely different. A cranialfeature shared with Vampyressa is the extension of the nasal openingbackward at the expense of the nasals. The teeth are 32 in number. Type from Papayo (about 25 miles northwest ofAcapulco), Guerrero, Mexico. The distinguishing characters of the yellow-shouldered bat inPanama are the same as those of the genus. The dark tips of thepelage give the back a dark brown tone, but the under color of thefur is gray. The forearm measures about 44 millimeters.
