The skull more nearly resembles that ofEptesicus in form, but the single pair of upper incisors and otherdetails are distinctive. The teeth are 30 in number. RHOGEESSA TUMIDA H. The small size, slender form, tiny foot, and naked interfemoralmembrane together with rich yellowish brown color characterize thisspecies, one of the smallest bats occurring in Panama. S. Miller, Jr. Specimens examined: Bugaba, 1 1; La Palma de Darien, 1 ; SanPablo, 3. Family MOLOSSIDAE The family Molossidre includes large, medium and small bats withshort, thick, leathery ears, broader than high, and projecting farforward over the eyes. The short thick muzzle is not provided witha nose leaf, the legs are short and the long tail projects prominentlybeyond the posterior border of the short interfemoral membrane.The general pelage is short and velvety; very short hairs withthickened and more or less distinctly spoon-shaped tips are presenton the upper lip, and similarly modified hairs form a fringe along theunder and outer sides of the lateral digits of the foot; more con-spicuous but slender hairs with recurved tips project beyond theclaws.
