Summary edit

Description
English: Imbrasia tyrrhea caterpillars in Garies in South Africa. They are feeding on she-oak (Allocasuarina), an Australian import. Although Imbrasia tyrrhea is called the thorn tree emperor moth, it feeds on a fair number of local tree species, and these nearly mature caterpillars looked healthy, measuring about 60-80 mm in length.
