The Kachins here were dressed very similarly to theMarus of the Nmai valley, the long-gyi being usuallydark navy blue striped with dull red—very jungly colours.Kachin women have no excuse for keeping their husbandswaiting; they have no hat to be set at an accurateangle in front of the glass, and their raven hair is simplytied in a knot on top of the head.
