شيد الجامع سنة 17 للهجرة في زمن الخليفة الثاني عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه، ويبلغ ارتفاع المنارة 25 متراً، ويروى ان هناك ممر من أسفل المنارة يؤدي إلى النهر على شكل نفق مربع بعرض متر ونصف و67 متراً طولاً إلى النهر، حيث كان يستعمل اثناء الغزو عندما لا يستطيعون فتح الأبواب لإدخال المعونة إلى هيت والذي يسمى باب السنجه (باب ( السنجق) هذه المنارة تشبة كثيرا منارة جامع النبي يونس في محافظة الموصل والتي هدمت جراء الحرب الاخيرة التي دارت هناكEnglish: Lighthouse of Al-Farouq Mosque in Heet
