| Description |
English: Incline to the Yew Crag Workings. Honister Quarries. View of the underground quarry workings on the north side of the pass from the old tramway on the south side. The slate won from Honister Quarries was an attractive and durable green. The incline would have been self acting, the weight of loaded tubs pulling up empty ones.
Yew Crag quarries closed in 1966 followed by the remainder of Honistor Quarries in 1985. Recently the quarries on the south side of the pass have been re-opened as a working tourist attraction. |
