Summary edit

Description
English: The national bird of India, the peacock is one of the most beautiful birds.

The bird displays a magnificent train of feathers, which is actually not a tail, but extremely elongated feathers of the upper tail. Peafowl (this includes peacock and peahen) are birds of dense scrub and deciduous forests and can be seen flying between treetops. They are extremely alert and shy birds. Their alarm calls are among the first warnings to the animals in the jungle of the presence of a predator. They feed on grains, vegetables, shoots, insects, lizards and snakes.

At night, peafowl rest on high trees branches.
