Industries of War - Field Kitchens and Filing Equipment - NEW TYPE OF ARMY FIELD KITCHEN
Description
  • Scope and content: Original Caption: NEW TYPE OF ARMY FIELD KITCHEN. Hotel type Unit, Mounted on Riker Truck, Will Serve Three Hot Meals a Day to 2000 Men. A new type of Mobile Army Kitchen was demonstrated some months ago at New Haven, Conn., on the Yale Field. 1750 men of the 102nd Infantry were fed in less than an hour. The new kitchen will serve three hot meals a day to a force of 2000 men and can provide enough coffee for 1000 men every ten minutes. The Taft Army Field Kitchen as the unit has been called, is practically a steam hotel kitchen mounted in a motor truck. It is the invention of J.C. La Vin, manager of the Hotel Taft.
