TRADUCTION DE L'INSCRIPTION.

L’an du Seigneur 2008 les statuaires Bruno Capredon et Michel Prieur, de Tours, et Frédéric Biesmans, de Bruxelles, ont restauré les monuments des comtes Frédéric et Félix de Merode, avec l’appui financier de la fondation à la mémoire du prince Richard de Mérode et la mise en exécution par Charles-Guillaume prince de Merode Westerloo et la princesse Antoinette de Merode fiancée[4] (sic) du comte Claude d’Aspermont Lynden trésorier de la cathédrale des Saints Michel et Gudule et Madame Béatrice de Guébriant fiancée[5] (sic) du vainqueur[6] (sic) Berghmans.

  1. ↑ Le mot latin "sponsa", à ne pas confondre avec l'italien "sposa", signifie "fiancée" et non pas épouse, ce mot devant être rendu par "uxore" à l'ablatif.
  2. ↑ Voir note 1.
  3. ↑ Le prénom Vincent se dit en latin "Vincentius", avec génitif Vincentii. Le mot "Vincentis" de l'inscription est le participe présent du verbre "vincere", le vainqueur.
  4. ↑ Le texte latin met "sponsa", fiancée, au lieu de "uxore", épouse.
