Summary edit
DescriptionInvasive species- Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris) feeding at Lunawanna, Bruny Island -4 (33073631784).jpg | 6 day visit to Bruny Island, April 2017. This bumbelbee species (Bombus terrestris) is thought to have been introduced to Tasmania in 1992 and formed a large feral population. The Invasive Species Council says it is a serious threat to Australian biodiversity and also potentially to some primary industries. It has invaded and colonised most Tasmanian ecosystems and vegetation types displacing other native and honeybee populations. |
