English: Inverness (Inbhir Nis) railway station This view, looking towards the locomotive maintenance depot within the triangle of tracks outside the station, clearly shows how the North and South platforms diverge. The nearer platforms curve left for Kyle of Lochalsh, Wick and Thurso and the farther platforms, behind the station sign with English and Gaelic versions of the name, bear right towards Aberdeen, Perth and eventually England. The Invernet sign below the nameboard refers to the recent introduction of short-working commuter trains into Inverness from Tain on the Far North line. |
