Summary edit
DescriptionIrradiated spot of diamond with high concentration of nitrogen-vacancy centers.jpg |
English: Fluorescence microscopy image of a diamond sample with many nitrogen-vacancy centers concentrated in a single spot. Diamond was grown via chemical vapor deposition and incorporated nitrogen during the growth. Concentrated spot of nitrogen-vacancy centers was created by irradiating the area with electrons, which created many vacancies. Upon thermal annealing, vacancies diffused within the diamond and formed N-V centers. Irradiated region is visible with fluorescence microscopy because N-V centers fluorescence when illuminated with green light. |
