“Troy 28th January 1828 Richard P. Hunt Esteemed friend Thy letter of the 21th Instant. came duly to hand, arriving thy [draft?] on Edward G. Faille & Co for $379.30 at ten days date. Which is in full for my account & for which I am much obliged – For the last week or Two more Wheat has been brought to market than the forepart of the present winter. The price now is about one dollar for Bul. for the first Quality. The price of Rye is 53 for Bul (say fr [50th?]) Corn 3/6 – It is my opinion that all these articles will be pretty low the Ensuing Season – Pork has declined in New York – My last Quotations from New York are $13 for Mess pork $9 for prime – prime Beef $ 5 1/2 – Mess Beef 8 to 8 1/2 – flour $ 5 3/8 pr. Barrel nominal – Timothy seed is worth from 11/- to 13/- pr Bul in the market – Clover seed is Scarce & the price high I have not heard of any sales but presume it would bring from 12 to 14 [illegible] fr $ – I am Truly thine &C Isaac Merritt [PoA Laudand?]”
