Strandveien. Nederst i den lange bygningen lå trelasthandel Eggen. Ved siden av Ola Wold, smed. Det første huset på venstre side er nr. 4 b osv. Guttene står rundt en iskremvogn som en ved navn Arne Karlsen eide. Isen ble kjøpt på "melkeforsyninga" i byen, første stopp var Strandveien, neste Jernbanestasjonen. Det skal være tyske ubåtoffiserer som sees på bildet - Ubåtanlegget DORA ble påbegynt i mai 1941. Legg også merke til den lett gjenkjennelige telefonkiosken "Riks" (design fra 1932) og aviskiosken til høyre som reklamerer for Arbeider-Avisen. Arbeider-Avisen ble stoppet av tyskerne 29 Januar 1941. Ved aviskiosken er også et tysk skilt som viser retningen til Værnes: "Vaernes - 34 km".
