Description
English: Istanbul - St. Sophia from South St. Sophia (Hagia Sophia) was built for the Roman Emperor Justinian in 532-537. It was converted ilnto the principal mosque of Constantinople after the Ottoman Conquest in 1453, and is now a museum. Here it is seen from the south. It is called Ayasofya in Turkish. The name means "holy wisdom." St. Sophia is located outside te grounds ot Topkapi Palace.
