Ivanpah solar power plant tower (1 of 3) with no filter (left) and 9 stop ND filter (right) to show the solar focus portion of the collector

Summary edit

Description
English: One of three 140 m tall solar collector towers at the Ivanpah solar facility (CA, USA) taken on a cloudy overcast day. 173,500 mirrors (14 square m each) reflect sunlight onto the towers. Picture on the right taken with a 9 stop ND filter to bring the collector brightness within the camera's dynamic range and to show the portion of the collector that absorbs the reflected sunlight. Each tower generates approximately 130 MW.
