Description
James Booker Blakemore Wellington (1858 - 1939) worked with George Eastman in New York during the 1880s. Returning to England he became a director of Kodak, and later set up his own photographic materials company, Wellington & Ward. Elected member of the RPS in 1887; awarded Hon. FRPS in 1935. Henry Walter Barnett was born in St Kitts, Melbourne. He moved to Hobart, Tasmania in 1880 to establish a commercial studio before travelling the world from 1882 and working for photographers in America and London. He returned to Australia in 1885 establishing Falk Studios in Sydney where he photographed local and international celebrities. Barnett established a studio in London in 1897, joining the Linked Ring Brotherhood and RPS; and continued to photograph celebrities and artists. He moved to France in 1902, moving from photography towards art collecting. Barnett briefly returned to Melbourne before moving back to France; he died in Nice.
