Summary edit

Description Mirabilis multiflora—Colorado four o'clock. Native to southwestern United States and northern Mexico, including Baja California. The purple to magenta "flower petals" and really fused sepals. The entire flower (there may be as many as six) grows within the tube. Difficult to grow but makes a great display plant for xeriscapes. Photographed at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA.
