Juan Bas Eroles y Josefa Mayo Bodelón

Don Pablo Bas Miravén, originario de Barcelona casado con Benita Eroles Jovenich tuvieron sólo un hijo, don Juan Bas Eroles, llegaron a Chile alrededor del año 1906.

En 1914, don Pablo y su hijo, toman representación para la región de una bodega de vinos conocida como viña “Loma Blanca” de Planella Hnos. En 1921 fallece don Pablo Bas, por lo que su hijo Juan Bas queda a cargo del negocio, con representación en Valparaíso y en la zona del Aconcagua.

En 1923, don Juan Bas se casa en Valparaíso con doña Josefa Mayo Bodelón, hija de emigrantes Gallegos. Pasado un tiempo, don Juan se independizó, poniendo su propia bodega de vinos “La Superiora” haciendo prósperos negocios hasta el año 1936, año se traslada a Santiago. Juan Bas, era aficionado a la pintura y muy buen dibujante, por lo que fabricaba afiches publicitarios para la empresa alemana Pelikan en los años 1937 y 1938.

Ya en Santiago, arrienda la bodega de los Planella donde instala su fábrica de vinagres, para así vender los primeros “Vinagres y Pickles JB”, y gracias a sus esfuerzos extras y con apoyo de su señora, se las arregló para alimentar, vestir y enviar al colegio a sus 9 hijos, que posteriormente en total llegaron a sumar 14.

Con los años la marca “JB” se fue haciendo conocida por su calidad creciendo y consolidándose como la industria líder en la fabricación de vinagres y encurtidos del país.

Don Juan Bas Eroles muere en 1958, tras haber cargado el dolor por el fallecimiento de uno de sus hijos a los 16 años de edad. Es así como en el tiempo, la distinguida y nombrada marca JB es vendida por la familia, pasando a crear la marca “Don Juan”.

“Don Juan” y "Conservas Juan Bas" dejan de pertenecer a la familia Bas a fines del siglo veinte, así como también toda su industria, por lo que los Bas dejan en nuevas manos, completamente ajenas a la familia, todo un legado.

En el año 2000, Enrique Antonio Bas (hijo número 13 de don Juan Bas y doña Josefa Mayo) y Juan Antonio Bas Mora, único hijo hombre de Enrique Antonio Bas, conforman en sociedad una pequeña agroindustria, con el fin de continuar los conocimientos dejados por el Padre y Abuelo Juan Bas, fundando así la marca “LA HERENCIA”
