English:

In the 1870s, J. Kellogg & Company established a new town on the Cowlitz River and named it Toledo after their stern-wheeler. In 1881, the Kellogg family built the "Joseph Kellogg" in Portland to provide additional steamboat service.

Steamer Joseph Kellogg, from foot of Yamhill Streets, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 7 a.m...Steamer Toledo, from foot of Yamhill Street, Monday and Thursday at 6 a.m...Special Notice.--Emigrants with teams bound for the Cowlitz river country and points on Gray's Harbor and the Sound, are notified that there is no wagon road from Portland. The only way to go is via one of the above steamers to some landing on the Cowlitz river. Speed, Comfort and Safety Assured.
