Description

Dublin publisher James Campbell Percy (at the wheel), publisher of the Irish Motor News, Irish Cyclist and Irish Wheelman. As this is a Poole photo, this shot was probably taken somewhere in the South-East.

Percy was involved in the founding of the Motor Cycle Union of Ireland in 1902, and the Irish Aero Club in 1909. He was also author of three books in our collections, one of which you can read online: Bulls, ancient and modern, 1912 (bulls in this instance are funny tall tales)

Thanks to Bob Montgomery 2012 for confirming that James Campbell was also Lieutenant J. C. Percy, R.N.V.R., who was director of Naval Recruiting in Ireland.
